No, that just means you basically own them until they are eighteen years old or emancipated.

People have this idea that giving their kid a bunch of cool stuff and a big house and spoiling them rotten makes them someone's mother or father.

(I'm so freaking tired of people saying "Your life isn't that bad, you have this, this, this, this, this, this..." Ever heard the term money doesn't buy happiness? Just curious.)

No, that makes you seem cruel, uncaring and gives the kid issues.

People have this idea that spending time with your children, loving them, helping them out, being compassionate, and having THEM in mind instead of your failures and giving them decent limits while doing your best to provide for them makes you their mother or father.

If you can somehow do a balanced combination of these things, that's swell. Go you! But people need to get that blood and legal bullshit don't have much to do with what makes a family.
A family is a person or group of people who are there for you, support you, and love you. People you can trust and go to when you need help or when you want to share something good.

I'd give the house and the stuff for time spent when I was younger and feeling like I was loved and cared for and not just a sparkly thing that was fun to scream at.
